Man blasted for sending kids to babysitter so wife can drive him to appointment

A man has been slammed online after forcing his wife to drive him to a medical appointment despite having no childcare for their children.

The man admitted his annoyance online that he's had to ask for help from his own parents following the awkward predicament.

Taking to popular forum site Reddit, the anonymous user claims that he was 'pretty annoyed' that his wife was reluctant to help him get to the appointment for his eye surgery.

Trying to compromise the dilemma, he sought advice from people online, questioning: "Am I the a**hole for not trying to find a babysitter for my surgery so that my wife could drive me to my surgery?"

He explained: "I scheduled an eye surgery and checked with my wife to make sure she was free to drive me to my appointment. As the day is drawing nearer, she asked me who was watching the kids during my surgery. I didn't make any plans for that.

"We have a one and two-year-old, but I assumed that she would just take the kids with us. If she thought that would be too much she could ask her parents to watch them. Her parents are always willing to help.

"I told her that I could ask her mum if she could watch them. She said something like, No I want you to ask your mum. Seeing as it's easier to just find someone to drive me than it is to ask for someone to watch kids, I asked my mum if she would drive me to the appointment.

"My mum said she couldn't but my step-dad offered to drive me (my step-dad and I are not very close and he's not the kind of person I want to owe a favour if you catch my meaning).

"So I'm pretty annoyed that my wife is so reluctant to help me out. My wife is annoyed because she says she doesn't want to be stuck in a waiting room with two toddlers.

Seeking advice for the ordeal, the man questioned: "Am I the a**hole?"

Since sharing his concerns, the man's post raked in an excess of 2,000 comments to date - where people flocked to the comment section to slam the father.

One person wrote: "You're the a**hole. Another classic case of the wife being expected to do all of the mental load when it comes to the kids. Do better."

Someone else agreed: "Do Better. Read it op. Read it, live it, and sleep it. DO BETTER. She is NOT your momma. You're the a**hole."
