He appeared for sentence this afternoon, Tuesday, after admitting affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place in connection with the incident - which occurred at around 2.30pm on June 2. But the defendant was sent onwards to Liverpool Crown Court due to the seriousness of the case.

District Judge Wendy Lloyd told Walker: "This case is too serious to be dealt with here. You are going to go to the crown court.

Police carried out forensic examinations around an abandoned bicycle following the disturbance, as well as door-to-door enquiries in the area. Three others were arrested as part of the investigation, but were later released on bail pending further enquiries by Merseyside Police.
A 40 year-old man, from Kirkby, was held on suspicion of wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, affray, dangerous driving, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.
