Michael Begley, 27, has alleged he was knocked unconscious when police "smashed his head on the floor" while trying to restrain him after a brawl broke out at Park View Social Club on Liscard Road, Wallasey, on Monday, July 25. A patrol car was flagged down by a concerned mourner when a family dispute spilled out onto the street, and a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed officers requested further assistance after funeral guests turned "hostile".
Videos shared with the ECHO show a number of people, including officers, rubbing their eyes after police used pepper spray to bring the situation under control. Michael, from Wavertree, was one of three people arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place and affray, however the 27-year-old has accused police of escalating the situation and said he "could have been killed" by the force's actions.
Suspect named after boy, 12, stabbed in 'birthday bouncy castle' attack
A man has been charged after a 12 year old boy was stabbed at a children’s birthday party.
Merseyside Police said Mason Clague, 21, has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident. Officers were called to Southport Road in Bootle on April 7 last year to reports a child had been stabbed on a bouncy castle at a party.
Photos from the time showed police at the scene as a bouncy castle lay in the back garden of one of the homes, which was covered in birthday decorations. Officers later arrested a man on suspicion of wounding and released another appeal months later for more information about the attack.
Dad chased ex partner and baby down M62 at 100mph
A dad chased his ex, her new partner and his own eight month old child down the M62 in a 100mph pursuit.
Daniel Jones followed the terrified mum of his child all the way to a police station before getting out and screaming that he was going to kill her new partner. The terrifying incident came days after the 25 year old sent obscene messages to the man.
Callum Bryce, prosecuting, told Liverpool Magistrates’ Court that Jones and his ex had been in a relationship for five years and had a child together. The pair later split and the woman later got into a new relationship. However, Jones, from Widnes, began sending offensive messages to the man in March this year.
