A man has been arrested on suspicion of a 'racially aggravated public order' offence and assaulting a police constable after Bury tram stop was closed for several hours yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to the Metrolink station at around 2.10pm, yesterday (Wednesday 14 September), where they detained a man after witnessing what they called 'public order' offences. Bury tram stop was closed for at least two hours due to the incident.
During a struggle with officers, the male obtained a minor injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment but discharged a short time later.

The male was subsequently arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and assaulting a police constable.
A spokesperson for Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) told the M.E.N yesterday that they were 'aware' of the incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: "At around 2.10pm, yesterday (Wednesday 14 September 2022) officers from GMP’s Transport Unit were deployed at Bury Interchange when they observed public order offences.
"A male was detained and, during a struggle with officers, sustained a minor injury.
"He was taken to hospital for treatment but discharged a short time later and arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and assaulting a police constable."
