A man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.
Police were called to reports of a body being found in a flat on Bath Street, in Southport, on Sunday, July 24. Emergency services arrived and pronounced a 57-year-old man dead at the scene.
As a result of the discovery, officers launched a murder investigation and arrested a 51-year-old on suspicion of murder. Police have since confirmed that the man has been released on bail.

His cause of death is still unknown, as a spokesperson for the force said that post mortem details are being withheld while officers carry out more tests. A formal identification of the man who died has not taken place.
Detective Inspector Matthew Kerr said: "It is with great sadness that we confirm that a man was found dead at a property on Bath Street. We are in the very early stages of the investigation as we seek to establish what has taken place and how he died.
