Man arrested on suspicion of murder after woman found stabbed to death in Brixton

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds in south London.

Police were called to Tulse Hill in Brixton just before 5pm on Monday following reports a man was wielding a knife at an address.

Upon arrival, officers found a 42-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds inside McCormick House. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers tasered a 59-year-old man and arrested him on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm and threats to kill. He remains in police custody.

The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing for Lambeth, said: "This is a deeply shocking crime and our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the woman who sadly died.

"Our officers have arrested a man, who remains in custody, and are working at pace to piece together what happened.

"We realise this is particularly disturbing for those living in the local area. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days and are encouraged to reach out to officers if they have any concerns."

Enquiries continue and anyone witnesses have been asked to contact police directly.

Anyone who has information that could help police should contact 101 quoting CAD 5268/27Oct. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can speak to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
