Man arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after crash near school

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after a crash near a school in Tameside.

The smash happened on Manor Road in Droylsden at around 9.50pm last night (Monday). The vehicle reportedly hit some railings near the Droylsden Academy.

Police said the man believed to be the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs. It has not been confirmed whether anyone was injured.

Manor Road was closed off both ways after the crash night. It was shut between Lewis Road and Sunnybank Road.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a collision involving one vehicle at 9.50pm last night (19 September) on Manor Road, Droylsden. A man believed to be the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs."
