A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a dad in Bellshill.
Sammy Hamilton, 56, was found seriously injured by his elderly mother outside his home in Thorndean Avenue at around 11.30pm on Wednesday.
Emergency crews attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Scotland have now confirmed that a 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Sammy's death.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing with officers carrying out door-to-door enquiries and checking CCTV footage in the local area.
Inspector James McCluskey, of Bellshill Police Office, said: “At this time, our thoughts are very much with Mr Hamilton's family, as they come to terms with this terrible loss.
"We recognise this incident will also have an impact on the local community.
"I’d like to thank the public for their assistance so far and ask anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken with officers to please call 101."
