Bangkok police arrested a 31-year-old man on Monday morning for illegal possession of two firearms and ammunition.

Pol Maj Gen Theeradet Thamsuthee, investigation chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said Pakorn Pakaket, a native of Buri Ram province, was arrested in a flat on Ramkhamhaeng 22 Road in Bang Kapi district about 6.30am.

In his room police found a .38 revolver, a shotgun and 171 cartridges of various calibres. The firearms were not registered.

Mr Pakorn told police that he bought the revolver from an online supplier for about 10,000 baht and received the shotgun from a relative. He said he liked to collect firearms and show them to friends.
