A man has been arrested and charged with murder after the Leon County Sheriff's Office discovered human remains linked to a missing persons case on a property in Buffalo, Texas. The suspect, Michael Dean Davis Jr., 27, was taken into custody in connection with the grim discovery.

The investigation was initiated on June 19 following a report of a missing person and child, both of whom were entered into the National Crime Information Center as missing persons. Authorities identified Davis as a potential threat due to his violent tendencies and the safety of his son, prompting a carefully planned approach that culminated in his arrest on Nov. 12, 2024.

During the execution of a search warrant on the Buffalo property, law enforcement officers located the human remains, which were later confirmed to belong to a 27-year-old woman named Mahogany Washington. Washington, who was the mother of Davis' 8-year-old son, had not been seen or heard from by her family since July 2022.
