Police have made an arrest in connection to an attack in Bootle that left a man fighting for his life.
A 26-year-old man, from Liverpool, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody. The arrest comes after police were called to reports of an attack on Stanley Road, at around 1.15am on Tuesday, July 12.
The victim was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths and was then rushed to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A scene remains in place on Stanley Road, near Bootle Strand, while officers continue their enquiries into the attack. The cordon covers a section of pavement between Stanley Road and Strand Road, a nearby bus stop and outside the Burger King.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said: "Although we have made a swift arrest following this incident, we are still in the early stages of an investigation into a serious assault which has left a man in a critical condition. If you were driving through Stanley Road early this morning and have dashcam footage of the incident or saw anything suspicious then please let us know. All information you hold could be vital to our enquiries."
