A 68-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a police investigation into ‘malicious communications’ sent to Labour MP Angela Rayner.
GMP said a woman in Ashton-under-Lyne, the town Ms Rayner represents in Parliament, reported multiple alleged threatening and abusive phone calls, emails and letters last year.
Police say the latest arrest relates to abusive emails sent on November 17.

The man was arrested yesterday (January 19) at an address in Brighton, following an investigation by GMP and Sussex Police.
He was arrested on suspicion of malicious communications.
He has since been released on bail.
Four arrests have been made so far as part of the investigation, resulting in one man being charged and sentenced in connection.
In a statement last year, a spokesperson for Ms Rayner confirmed that she had received threatening communications.
In a new statement, a spokesperson said: “We are working with the police to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are brought to justice and Angela would like to thank the police for their work during these investigations.
“Abuse and threats of this nature don’t just have an impact on Angela but also on her family, her children and her staff, who are on the receiving end of these communications.”
Police said enquiries are ongoing.
