Man arrested and charged over illegal drone activity at Dublin Airport

A man has been arrested over illegal drone activity at Dublin Airport that happened last summer.

Gardai in Ballymun, Dublin, arrested him on Tuesday morning and he is due to appear in court this afternoon.

The man, aged in his 40s, will appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice, charged in connection with drone activity that happened at Dublin Airport on July 2, 2022.

According to Irish drone laws, you should avoid flying near airports and heliports and stay a minimum of 8 kilometers away from airports and 3 kilometers from heliports for safety.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Ballymun have charged a man (40s) as part of an investigation into an incident of drone activity at Dublin Airport that occurred on 2nd July, 2022.

The man was arrested earlier today and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4.30pm this afternoon, Tuesday, 21st February 2023."
