A man accused of shooting a woman in the leg has been arrested after he was injured in a motorbike crash.

Police said the 24-year-old woman was approached by the man in Dakabin, north of Brisbane, after 8pm on February 19.

He shot her in the leg as she got into a vehicle before he fled in another car, police said.

The woman was taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her upper leg.

Police investigating what they described as a domestic violence incident arrested the man after he was hospitalised following a motorbike crash more than a week later.

Police say a motorcycle crashed into the back of a car on a bridge in Clontarf near Dakabin on Tuesday morning and the rider fell off.

A second motorbike stopped and the injured rider jumped on, leaving the scene.

About 45 minutes later, a member of the public called emergency services to let them know there was an injured man at nearby Brighton.

The 25-year-old man was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries believed to be a result of the crash.

He remains under police guard in the hospital with charges pending relating to the Dakabin shooting, police said.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage should contact police.
