A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his former partner and another man to death in Sydney.

Police said emergency services were called to the home in Quakers Hill just before 5am on Sunday, responding to reports of a disturbance.

“When police arrived at that location, they discovered a male in his 30s suffering from stab wounds on the front footpath,” Supt Jason Joyce from the Riverstone police area command said.

“They then entered a house in Illabo Street, where they discovered a female deceased in the kitchen, suffering from stab wounds. The male was transported to Liverpool hospital, where, unfortunately, he died despite the efforts of the medical staff.”

About 30 minutes after emergency services responded, police arrested a 47-year-old man after he went to Blacktown police station.

“A 47-year-old male attended Blacktown police station and was arrested as a result of that [and] a knife was located at a service station in Woodcroft,” Joyce said.

He said the male in custody was previously in a relationship with the woman, who is thought to have been in a new relationship with the deceased man.

“We believe that the deceased female and deceased male were in a relationship. I’m not sure what type of relationship or the duration in that relationship,” Joyce said.

He said the male in custody was known to police.

“Police are establishing a number of crime scenes and making inquiries in relation to this matter. It was obviously a very traumatic incident that both my police and ambulance officers faced at that location.”

He urged anyone with CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

The police investigation is ongoing.
