A 28-year-old has been arrested in connection with the death of a man and the serious injury of a woman in Johnstone yesterday.
Emergency services raced to MacDowall Street at around 1.50am on Wednesday after reports of an incident.
The 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 59-year-old woman was also found with serious injuries.
She was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where her condition has now been described as stable.
Police launched a probe into the circumstances of the incident and have now confirmed they have arrested a suspect.
Photos taken on the street where the man and woman were found, showed a window frame of a ground floor flat covered in blood.
A forensic tent was erected outside a property, as officers continued to investigate the circumstances.
Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Johnstone and the serious injury of a woman.
“The incident happened around 1.50am on Wednesday, 1 June, 2022, in McDowall Street, Johnstone.
“A man, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene and a 59-year-old woman was taken to QEUH with serious injuries.”
