A MAN has been arrested following disorder at anti-immigration protests in Arbroath.
Police Scotland attended planned protest activity in Arbroath High Street on Saturday.
Several roads were closed and barriers were put up around Arbroath train station as protesters demonstrated and marched through the town.
STV reports that footage shared on social media appears to show protesters and police clashing in heated exchanges.
Police confirmed one man has been arrested following disorder.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended planned protest activity in Arbroath High Street on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
“Following disorder at several locations in Arbroath town centre, one man was arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
It comes after a 23-year-old white British man was charged following a serious sexual assault in the Bridge Street area of the town.
The man is due to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court at a later date.
At the time, police said social media posts suggesting the incident involved "illegal immigrants" were "inaccurate".
They added that they had not received reports of any further incidents.
