A man has been arrested and charged after being found carrying a kitchen knife at Manchester Christmas Markets. Officers on patrol spotted the male 'acting suspiciously' along Market Street on Tuesday night (November 22).
There has been an increased police presence in and around the city centre due to the popular Christmas Markets. Officers, who are trained to spot signs someone is 'planning or preparing to commit an act of crime' as part of 'Project Servator' were on patrol on Tuesday.
After the man was detained, he was later searched, and according to police, was found to be in possession of a large kitchen knife and cocaine. He was arrested at the scene.

Police provided an update along with a picture of officers arresting the male outside the Tesco Express store, where they added he had been charged to appear in court.
The update from Greater Manchester Police's City Centre division read: "Our specially trained #ProjectServator officers have been working alongside #GMPHorses & #CCTV for our amazing #MCRChristmasMarkets. They spotted a male acting suspiciously on Market Street, who was in possession of a large kitchen knife & cocaine. He's now been charged to court."
