Man arrested after allegedly threatening Andrew near home on Sandringham Estate

A man has been arrested for allegedly threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his new home on the Sandringham Estate, Norfolk Police said.

The former Duke of York was out walking his dogs when he was confronted by a balaclava-clad man who was sitting in a car on Wednesday evening in Wolferton, close to his Marsh Farm property, The Telegraph reported.

The man was said to have spotted the disgraced former prince 50 yards away and then got out of his vehicle and made his way towards Andrew while shouting at him.

Norfolk Police said in a statement: “Officers were called to Wolferton shortly after 7.30pm yesterday (Wednesday May 6 2026) following a report a man was behaving in an intimidating manner in the village.

“Officers attended, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning and remains in custody.”

The late Queen’s second son is provided with an annual stipend by his brother, the King.

This includes an allowance made for the cost of private security but it is up to the former duke how he uses this, the Press Association understands.

Andrew finally moved out of Windsor Great Park’s 30-room Royal Lodge, where he had paid a peppercorn rent on the Crown Estate property for decades, on to Charles’s private Sandringham Estate earlier this year, and has set up home in Marsh Farm.

The five-bedroom Marsh Farm, which was renovated for the former duke, is nestled in the far reaches of the vast 20,000-acre-estate.

It is only around 500 metres from the tiny village of Wolferton, and 4km from the King’s Sandringham House.

Andrew was arrested in February – on his 66th birthday – on suspicion of misconduct in public office following allegations he shared sensitive information with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.

He was stripped by the King of both his right to be a prince and his dukedom late last year over his association with convicted sex offender Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in 2025, alleged that she was forced to have sex three times with Andrew, including when she was 17, and also in London after she was trafficked by Epstein, and at an orgy on Epstein’s private Caribbean island.

Fresh claims include that a second woman was sent to the UK by the paedophile financier for a sexual encounter with Andrew, and also that the former prince and Epstein asked an exotic dancer for a threesome in the latter’s Florida home.

Andrew has denied any wrongdoing over his links to Epstein regarding Ms Giuffre, but has not directly responded to the latest allegations.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment, while Andrew’s representatives have not yet responded to a request for a comment.
