A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a pensioner in his home.
Owen Maughan, 20, made no reply when the charge of murder was put to him by Detective Sergeant Eoin McDonnell at Balbriggan District Court yesterday morning.
Christy Hall, 65, was discovered lying dead in his home at Dun Saithne Green in the town by one of his daughters last November.

He had suffered horrific injuries to his head and body.
Det Sgt McDonnell told Judge Deirdre Gearty that the accused was charged at 10.48am. The garda confirmed no reply was made after caution.
Maughan, of Dun Saithne estate in Balbriggan, North Co Dublin, is accused of murdering Mr Hall on November 24, 2021.
Judge Gearty remanded the accused in custody to Cloverhill Prison pending a further hearing via video link next Tuesday.
Maughan, who was wearing a face covering and dressed in a tracksuit and runners, remained silent during the short hearing.
