A 66-year-old man has been charged with the alleged murder of a man in Far North Queensland after what police allege was an argument over loud noise.
Police were called to a home in the Cairns suburb of White Rock about 1:30am on Wednesday, where they found a 57-year-old man with stab wounds to his back.
He died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.
Senior Sergeant Jason Chetham said officers were in White Rock talking to residents today.
"Anyone with information who can assist us, we would love for them to come forward," Senior Sergeant Chetham said.
Multiple police cars, including a forensics van, were parked outside the home on Hollywood Boulevard.
Senior Sergeant Chetham said police were attempting to piece together what happened.
"The information is there were a number of altercations throughout the evening and the early morning," he said.
"We understand those two parties were arguing a number of times about noise emanating from the premises.
"That's something we're trying to flesh out."
The 66-year-old man is due to face Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.
