A Bristol man who admits setting fire to his home now awaits sentence. Michael Goff was due to face trial at Bristol Crown Court today, (July 10, 2023)
Instead the 33-year-old, of Bishport Avenue, pleaded guilty to multiple charges relating to January 8 and 11 this year. They comprised of: damaging a shed; assaulting an emergency worker; common assault of a woman; arson being reckless as to whether life is endangered.
At Bristol Crown Court today (Monday) Rupert Russell, prosecuting, said the pleas were acceptable to the Crown. The court heard Goff, who has no previous convictions, was suffering from mental health difficulties.

Judge Michael Longman adjourned sentence, pending a pre-sentence report, until August 11. Goff was remanded in custody.
