Man Accused Of Assaulting Woman At Pride Event Surrenders

police

A man accused of punching a woman in the face during a Pride and anti-Israel event surrendered to police Monday, authorities said. Video footage posted to social media allegedly shows the incident where the man, identified as a 52-year-old named Jonathan Kaye, struck a woman, causing her to fall to the ground during the June 8 Brooklyn Pride event. Kaye was subsequently arrested and charged with second and third-degree assault by the New York Police Department.

The woman, known only as 'Micah P,' revealed to NBC New York that the blow from Kaye broke her nose in four places. She recounted that Kaye appeared angry and made derogatory remarks towards them before the physical altercation occurred.

According to sources, Kaye, who is Jewish, engaged in a verbal exchange with a group of demonstrators at the event, leading to a confrontation. The group, described as 'Queers for Palestine' or 'Trans for Palestine,' allegedly surrounded Kaye and threw a red liquid on him as he attempted to retreat. Photos of Kaye's stained clothes and a leg injury were shared, indicating the intensity of the altercation.

Despite the incident, sources mentioned that Kaye had no prior history of violence or criminal behavior. He was employed as a managing director at Moelis & Co., a Manhattan investment bank, at the time of the assault. However, following the incident, Kaye resigned from his position at the firm.

The situation highlights the importance of maintaining peaceful interactions and respectful dialogue, especially in events that involve differing viewpoints. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to ensure justice is served for all parties involved.
