Police have launched an investigation following a horrific crash which killed an OAP and sent three people, including an 18-month-old boy, to hospital.
Officers were called to a section of the A90 north of Balmedie, to the south of Aberdeen, at around 9.35am on Thursday October 6 following reports of a collision involving a silver BMW and a black Nissan Qashqai. The 91-year-old man, who had been driving the BMW, died at the scene.
A report on his death will be submitted to the procurator fiscal. Three people travelling in the Nissan - a 41-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman and an 18-month-old boy, were taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
Their condition is unknown at this time. The road has re-opened since the smash but traffic cops have launched a probe into the incident, appealing to witnesses to get in touch.
Constable Craig Laing, of the North East Road Policing unit based at Inverurie, said: “We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not already come forward, to contact police.
"We are keen to obtain any dash-cam footage from motorists who were in the area at the time.”
Information can be passed to officers via 101, with those getting in touch asked to quote reference 0730 of Thursday October 6 2022 when calling.
