A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car on the A167 in Newcastle.
Emergency services were called at around 10.30am on Monday to reports a dog walker had been knocked down by a car travelling southbound on the A167 Ponteland Road just off Kenton Lane roundabout.
The 70-year-old pedestrian was rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with head injuries and was deemed to be in a life-threatening condition.

The dog sustained minor injuries and has since been checked over by a vet.
On Tuesday, police confirmed the pensioner is still fighting for his life in hospital following the incident.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and was also taken to hospital for treatment. They are assisting police with their inquiries.
Northumbria Police, North East Ambulance Service and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were all called to the crash which caused traffic disruption at the time.
Officers are now appealing for information in relation to the incident and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
