A man was arrested after three people were wounded in a hand grenade and knife attack in Berlin.
German police said the 61-year-old attacker detonated the grenade at the entrance of an apartment building in the Reinickendorf neighbourhood last night.
The suspect is then alleged to have run at two of the victims and attacked and wounded them with a knife.
Two women, aged 42 and 48, and a 61-year-old man were injured.
All three victims were taken to the hospital. The man is suffering from life-threatening injuries, police said in a statement.
The attacker then fled the scene and police detained the suspect in a nearby garden.
Police are still investigating possible motives. It is unclear if the suspect and victims knew each other.
While police did not release details on the attacker or victims' identities, German news agency dpa reported that the alleged attacker is Serbian and the two women also have Serbian nationality, while the wounded man is from Bosnia-Herzegovina.
