Man, 50s, found dead in Cork following multi-agency search operation

Gardaí have confirmed the death of a man in his 50s following a multi-agency search operation in Cork this week.

According to investigating officers, the man was found in the Blarney area on Friday, July 15, after a search led by the Cork City Missing Persons volunteers, Gardai, and Munster Lowland Search Dogs.

His death is being treated as a “personal tragedy,” gardaí say, and a file will now be prepared for the Coroner.

In a statement, the Missing Persons Search Team sent their condolences to the man’s family and friends, however, his identity has not been confirmed at this point.

They said: "CCMPSAR Volunteers were requested by An Garda Síochána this morning to assist in a search for a missing person in the Cork area .Our volunteers commenced a search and shortly afterwards we recovered the missing person deceased.

"We wish to pass on our condolences to the family and friends at this sad time. RIP

"We would like to thank Mayfield Garda station, Garda Air Support Unit and Munster Lowland Search Dogs for their assistance in today's search."

A garda spokesperson added: "The body of a man 50s found in the course of a coordinated search operation in Blarney is being treated as a personal tragedy.

"Foul play is not suspected, a file will be prepared for the Coroner. No further info is available."
