A man in his 40s has died following a tragic workplace accident in Co Wexford.
The incident happened on a building site in the Ballymoney area on Monday afternoon after 3pm.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the site but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local newspaper the Gorey Guardian reports that the man was involved in moving and dismantling shutters and he was crushed by a large metal shutter used to hold concrete.
His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem examination was due to take place.
An investigation into the incident has also been launched by the Health and Safety Authority.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal workplace incident at a building site in the Ballymoney area of Co. Wexford, 21st February 2022.
"A man aged in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. The body of the deceased was taken to University Hospital Waterford for a post mortem to take place."
A spokesperson for the HSA added: "The Health and Safety Authority is aware of this incident in Co. Wexford on Monday 21st Feb. The matter is currently under investigation. As such, no further details are available at this time."
