A 37-year-old man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a stabbing outside the British Museum.
Brady Wilson was arrested in the aftermath of the incident on Tuesday morning, when a man - Zhung Ting Wei - was injured outside the world-famous museum in an alleged knife attack.
Wilson has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding with intent against the same victim, and three charges of possession of an offensive weapon.
It is said Wilson, of no fixed address, was carrying three black handled knives and two 10-inch kitchen knives at the time of the incident, which happened about 10am.
Prosecutor Edward Kalber told Highbury Corner magistrates court on Thursday morning that Mr Wei, his wife, and his nephew had been standing outside a gift shop - Fancy That of London - before crossing the road towards the British Museum.
It is said Mr Wei was confronted and stabbed by Wilson, who allegedly left the knife embedded in the victim’s left arm.
“The knife pierced his left arm and remained in the arm until later removed at hospital”, he said.
The British Museum was evacuated and shut to the public in the aftermath of the stabbing, as police and paramedics assisted the wounded man.
The Metropolitan Police said at the time the incident was not terror-related.
Wilson appeared in custody before magistrates on Thursday morning, as his case was sent to Wood Green crown court for a hearing on September 11.
He was remanded back into custody, and no pleas were entered to the charges.
