A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was stabbed on a bus in London's iconic Oxford Street.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at about 22:20hrs on Tuesday, 28 February to reports of a man stabbed on board a bus on Oxford Street."
The man was found badly injured and currently remains in a life-threatening position in hospital after treatment from the London Ambulance service.
A pair of bloodied trainers were pictured as a forensic team works at the scene, where a pool of blood staining the pavement was also spotted. A London bus can be seen inside the police cordon.
No arrests have yet been made and there is currently a crime scene in place on one of London's busiest shopping streets near John Lewis and McDonald's.
The Met added: "Officers attended and found a 25-year-old man critically injured.
"He was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service where he remains with life-threatening injuries.
"A crime scene is in place and parts of Oxford Street remain closed to traffic.
"Additional officers are in the area. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."
Those with information about what happened have been told to contact the Met via 101 and quote the reference CAD 7103/28Feb.
Last year, police in London confirmed they had responded to 13,405 reports of weapons between October 2021 and June 2022.
