A 23-year-old has been taken to hospital after being shot in broad daylight in a residential street in east London.
Police, paramedics, and an air ambulance responded to the shooting in Dagenham shortly after 1pm on Wednesday.
They arrived to find a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
He was taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed not to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Detectives from the Met’s Trident team believe the victim was shot in residential Wren Road which runs by Parsloes Park, before making his way to adjoining main road Porters Avenue, where emergency services were called.
Scotland Yard on Thursday issued an appeal for any witnesses, or anyone with information or footage, to come forward.
No arrests have yet been made.
Detective Inspector Iain Wallace of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who has information that could assist our investigation.
“We believe that a black coloured Ford Fiesta was involved and are keen to hear from anyone who has information or footage concerning that vehicle.
“We are working hard to take illegal guns off the streets, but we can’t achieve that alone. If you have information about this incident, or anyone who has an illegal gun, please do get in touch and help us make your area safer.”
Local people will notice an enhanced police presence in the area to provide reassurance.
