Man, 22, stabbed to death outside shops in Brixton in south London

A man has been stabbed to death in broad daylight in south London.

The 22-year-old victim was found with a knife injury outside a row of shops in Brixton, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Having been called to reports of a stabbing, police discovered the victim in Coldharbour Lane at 4.44pm on Tuesday, said Scotland Yard.

Despite efforts to save him – with both police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics in attendance – he died at the scene, the force said.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation, but no arrests have yet been made.

“Work is ongoing to identify and inform his next of kin,” the Met Police said in a statement.

“At this early stage there has been no arrest. A crime scene is in place and officers remain on scene.”

Images shared on social media showed a police cordon across both the road and pavement, close to a cocktail bar, hairdresser’s and convenience store.

It comes just hours after a murder probe was launched into the fatal stabbing of a 42-year-old man in Sutton at around 9pm on Monday. A woman has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill, police said.

On Sunday, 16-year-old Taye Fake was stabbed to death in a quiet cul-de-sac just yards from his home in Edmonton.

His distraught uncle Altough Faik told MyLondon: “He was a beautiful boy. We are devastated. He had a bright future ahead of him. He hasn’t been given the chance to flourish like he would have.”

His death – the 16th teenage victim of homicide in London so far this year – came just days after 15-year-old Elianne Andam was stabbed to death outside a shopping centre on her way to school. A teenage boy has been charged with murder.

Anyone who witnessed the incident on Tuesday or has information or footage is asked to call police on 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting 5530/3OCT.
