Malik Tillman accused of Rangers dive as hero 'looked for penalty' amid Ibrox masterclass

Malik Tillman should have been shown a yellow card for diving in Rangers' 2-0 win over Dundee United, according to Chris Iwelumo.

The American international scored twice for Michael Beale's side as they picked up a vital three points in their attempt to catch Celtic at the top of the league. Tillman opened the scoring on the 38th minute when the Bayern Munich loan midfielder got the breakthrough with a confident finish.

Rangers went two up after half-time on the 55th minute when Tillman made it six goals in six games and 12 for the season, and it was ultimately a comfortable afternoon for the Light Blues. Ahead of the game at Ibrox, Beale revealed sporting director Ross Wilson has been in touch with the German giants about securing the 20-year-old on a permanent deal. Iwelumo was complimentary of Tillman's performance against Jim Goodwin's United side but accused him of diving prior to the opening goal.

Mark Birighitti spilled a Cantwell shot into the path of Tillman who knocked it past the United keeper but threw himself the floor when doing so.

Speaking on Sportscene, Iwelumo said: "I'm sitting thinking he should take a yellow card for that little dive for me. I'm looking at it thinking he is looking for a penalty, but again see the movement between the two of them (Tillman and Cantwell).

"The movement from Cantwell, the first touch from Tillman and the finish speaks for itself."
