ADDITIONAL speakers have been confirmed for tomorrow’s Holyrood rally in reaction to the Supreme Court decision – as the total number of rallies taking place reached 15.
The main rally is to be held at Holyrood and 14 others will be held in Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Selkirk, Inverness, Skye, Greenock, Orkney, Lochgilphead, Inverurie, Aberdeen, Dumfries and Fort William, with Yes Lochaber being the latest to join the list.
Organisers have been liaising tirelessly with politicians, activists and prominent Yessers to provide the audience and media a night to remember, no matter the decision.
Time for Scotland co-organiser Lesley Riddoch said: “Whatever the decision and whatever the weather, supporters of #indyref2 will be on the streets across Scotland after the Supreme Court’s verdict.
“It’s crazy that the world’s most powerfully devolved parliament needs a court’s permission to consult its own electorate despite so many elections and mandates won by parties which support independence.
“So just as important as the Supreme Court ruling is the fact that people around the world will see Scots are visible, active and vocal in support of another referendum to decide on their future.”
Speakers at the Holyrood rally will include a senior representative of the Scottish Government (to be confirmed), Tommy Sheppard SNP MP and Neale Hanvey MP from the pro-indy Alba Party.
Joining them will be Kelly Given, runner-up in the TV reality series Make Me Prime Minister, Europe for Scotland’s French ambassador, Elise Tallaron, who will read a solidarity statement, along with Valentina Servera Clavell, a Catalan Scot and president of European Free Alliance youth.
Independence campaigners Selma Rahman, Colin Fox and Iain Black will also speak to the crowd.
Yes Lochaber is organising a march from the Parade, Fort William to the West End to mark the response and show the strength of support for a referendum irrespective of the determination made.
Brian Pearson, convener of Yes Lochaber, said: “I would encourage us all to attend on Wednesday.”
