Striker Adam Le Fondre is eager to share a slice of history with new teammate Robert Mak, who could become just the second man to score a goal in each of his first three A-League appearances for Sydney FC.
Winger Mak scored Sydney's first brace of the season in the opening-round loss to Melbourne Victory and backed it up with a shot from outside the box in the defeat of reigning champions Western United last week.
As it stands, Mak, Le Fondre, Bobo and Ranko Despotovic have found the net in their first two A-League games for the Sky Blues.
Englishman Le Fondre is the only man to have done it in his first three, back in the 2018/2019 season, in an auspicious start to a club career now into its fifth season.
Le Fondre hopes his feat will be equalled by Mak against Adelaide United on Sunday but says the Slovakian would need the help of his teammates to reach rarefied air.
"I had good teammates around me," Le Fondre said of his own prolific start to life at Sydney.
"We've got a really good squad here and I'm confident if Robbie is given chances, he will score.
"I'm hoping Robbie does it and if he does it, I hope we get the win as well. That's what you want, you want goals that are meaningful."
Lured from Hungarian side Ferencvaros this season, Mak has impressed coach Steve Corica in his first two games.
"We want him to keep scoring, keep assisting and keep working hard for the team. That's the main thing," Corica said.
Mak's arrival and that of fellow winger Joe Lolley has helped reshape the Sydney attack this season as the Sky Blues plot a return to the finals.
"We're starting to gel nicely together," Corica added.
"Some good attacking football is being played. We've scored five goals already in two games, which is great.
"Defensively we have to be a bit stronger and work together. But at the moment, I think it's coming along pretty good."
