Majority Sierra Plus review: A powerhouse soundbar that delivers an incredible immersive experience

Majority are a UK-based audio tech company, who have already made a name for themselves, after only being founded in 2012.

They have a long list of excellent products ranging from speakers, headphones and several different types of music systems. They are also climate conscious and launched their ‘Plant a tree with Majority’ initiative in 2020, which sees a tree being planted for every product sold or newsletter subscription.

For this review, I will be looking at one of their many soundbars, the Sierra Plus which is an updated version of the Sierra.

Majority’s Sierra Plus is a massive soundbar measuring 96 x 10.8 x 8.1 cm and weighing 7.9kg. Its grand design looks and feels premium with two metal grills at the top and bottom, protecting the speaker from damage.

Its exceptional build quality extends to the LCD display which is situated at the front of the speaker, rather than at the top like on some household name soundbars. Instead, Majority have situated the soundbar’s physical control buttons at the top, which is fully welcomed over touch-sensitive buttons.

Alongside the soundbar is its wireless subwoofer which also has a commanding design measuring 30.6 x 19 x 37 cm. Majority have also included a remote control that will grant you full authority over the soundbar, which is a great inclusion for its cheaper price point.

I have to say the Sierra Plus is a stunning soundbar and for its relatively cheap price point, I was blown away by the stellar craftsmanship that has gone into its design.

Majority’s Sierra Plus is a 2.1.2 system which means that it comes built with two front up-firing speakers that allow you to experience Dolby Atmos immersive audio. Alongside these top speakers, the soundbar comes equipped with 400-watt speakers at the front.

The Sierra Plus has several methods of connectivity and while it can’t be connected over WiFi meaning it won’t have AirPlay support, it can still be connected via Bluetooth.

Connecting the soundbar with my TV was simple and worked flawlessly on the first attempt. I found that the audio quality was great through Bluetooth, and had an amazing range of 10 metres.

But if you want to up the quality I would suggest using one of the soundbar's input connections which include 2 HDMI ports, a 3.5mm audio input cable, optical input and USB A.

Having 2 HDMI inputs is amazing as this means even if my TV does not support Dolby Atmos, I can still plug in an external HD player directly that supports it into the soundbar and experience the immersive audio.

The audio quality is incredible with the 400 watt system working fantastically (Majority)

The audio quality is incredible with the 400-watt system working fantastically alongside the wireless subwoofer, giving extra bass, with crystal clear highs and mids. I was pleased to see that out of the box, the bass wasn’t too overpowering and Majority had found a nice balance between the mids.

But what's more, they have included a few EQ presets that have been designed for different types of entertainment. It comes with movie, music, news and 3D which can all be tweaked and elevated with Dolby Atmos giving them a wider soundstage.

Majority Sierra Plus Verdict 4 / 5

Majority’s Sierra Plus is a fantastic soundbar that does everything right while undercutting the competition. I was really blown away by the immersive audio quality and stellar bass performance. For what’s considered a cheaper option Majority have done an amazing job at creating a product that can go toe to toe with household names.

Majority's Everest Sound System can be purchased now on their webpage or from Amazon for £229.95
