The majority of people want to ban car engines being left running outside of schools, new research has revealed.
A survey commissioned by leading lung charity Asthma + Lung UK Scotland found that eight in 10 people wanted car idling banned at the school gates.
With more than 1,000 people interviewed for the survey, 78 per cent said they would like to see new law s put in place to stop people leaving their car engines running while waiting near schools.
