The majority of staff at a Nottingham-based building contractor are being made redundant as the giant business enters into administration. J Tomlinson, a construction company in Beeston with a £100 million-plus turnover, had failed to bring in fresh funding after being hit by the effects of “hyper-inflation”.
The 70-year-old business employs more than 400 people and was previously contracted to undertake work at a number of major projects in the city, Business Live reports. These include the National Justice Museum's redevelopment project which was completed in 2017.
The same contractor was also behind the £3.7 million Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue base on London Road, which was completed in August 2016. The £4.5 million Portland Building redevelopment at University of Nottingham is also among the important projects where J Tomlinson was appointed.
