Two firefighters have been injured and airlifted to hospital as the the fire service continue to tackle a major wildfire in the Scottish Highlands
Emergency crews were alerted to a large scale fire near a farm in Cannich, Beauly on Sunday. More than 30 firefighters and nine appliances from Balintrae, Beauly, Fort Augustus and Newtonmore have since attended in a bid to extinguish the blaze.
Residents have been advised to close their windows and doors to avoid smoke inhalation. Images show the extent of the flames as they continue to burn across the countryside.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say 'specialist resources' are being used and a helicopter has been pictured overhead dousing the fire.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that are still at the scene and battling to stop the blaze from spreading further.
They said: "A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 12.46pm on Sunday, 28 May to reports of a fire in the open at a farm near Cannich, Beauly.
"Operations Control initially mobilised one fire appliance, increasing to nine appliances including specialist resources.
"At 5.37pm on Monday, 29 May a helicopter was brought in to water bomb the wildfire.
"As of Tuesday, 30 May we currently have five appliances on the scene, where firefighters are continuing to extinguish the fire and prevent further fire spread."
