A bomb threat shut down operations at Reagan National Airport on Tuesday.
WJLA-7 news reported that the threat was made regarding an inbound United Airlines flight.
"The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) is aware of a reported security issue on an aircraft at Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)," the station reported. "Passengers have been removed, and the aircraft is away from the terminal while authorities investigate."
The Daily Mail reported that the threat came in at about 10:30 a.m. EST. The outlet reported that the inbound flight arrived from Houston and was immediately surrounded by emergency vehicles on the tarmac.
Some flights were forced to circle as authorities made sure the passengers were safe and that any threats were neutralized. Some flights were diverted to other airports, The Daily Mail reported.
"All flight operations are being held at Reagan National while passengers on a United Airlines flight are being offloaded and bussed to the terminal. We will provide more information as it becomes available," airport officials said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
