Major traffic lights in Liverpool city centre out in power cut

A warning has been issued to people travelling in rush hour in the city after traffic lights at a major junction are not working.

The lights at the city centre junction of Great Howard Street and Leeds Street are not working due to a power cut, Liverpool City Council has said. The lights went just after 2.30pm on Thursday, February 2, leaving motorists at the three-way junction having to weave in between each other.

Traffic lights are also out at the junction with Paisley Street, which leads to Costco. Motorists are being warned to drive carefully while the council fix the issue.

A spokesperson from Liverpool City Council said: "Due to a power cut, the lights at the junction between Great Howard St & Leeds St are currently out - as is the junction with Paisley St, which leads to Costco.

"An engineer is on their way to fix the issue. Please drive carefully."
