Major Scotland injury blow as Lyndon Dykes ruled out of Euro 2024

Lyndon Dykes has been ruled out of the Scotland squad for Euro 2024.

The striker had been named in Steve Clarke's side and was involved in training this week.

However, Dykes was stretchered out of training after a cruel injury issue at Lesser Hampden.

Now, an update from the national team has confirmed Dykes will be unavailable for the tournament finals in Germany this summer.

It is not yet known whether a replacement will be called up to the Scotland squad with Dykes now unavailable for the tournament.

A Scotland national team update read: "Following an injury in training yesterday, Lyndon Dykes has been ruled out of the squad for UEFA EURO 2024.

"We’re gutted for you, Lyndon, but know you’ll be back in a Scotland shirt soon.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery."

Dykes has been a key played under Clarke and scored nine goals across 36 international matches.

The 28-year-old former Livingston forward played in all eight of the qualifiers, starting five of them, and scoring once.

Scotland are due to jet out to Faro before Monday's friendly match against Gibraltar. The national team will then face Finland at Hampden on June 7.

Clarke will then lead his side to Germany to face the host nation in the opening fixture of the tournament on Friday, June 14.

The Scotland manager previously suggested he would dip into the under-21 pool should there need to be replacement call-ups for the finals.

"There is no standby group," he said. "Well there is a standby group because Scot Gemmill will name an under-21 squad group tomorrow for two friendly matches. There is your standby group there.

“And what I would say to anybody who Scot picks for the under-21s is that it’s probably worth going to that camp because you never know what’s going to happen over the next 10 days.”
