A major Merseyside road remains partially closed after a car burst into flames.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed to the ECHO that two engines were called to reports of a car fire at 11.46am today, Sunday, February 12. Fire crews found the Renault Clio "well alight" but all people had managed to escape the burning vehicle.
The fire service requested assistance from Merseyside Police who came and closed Dunnings Bridge Road, Bootle. Police officers remain at the scene and the road is still closed eastbound heading towards Switch Island.

Videos seen by the ECHO from earlier this morning show a huge fire towards the front of the car. The burnt-out wreckage of the car remains on Dunnings Bridge Road. Images taken by the ECHO showed the blackened car and debris scattered nearby.
The front of the car was completely destroyed in the blaze and the vehicle's tyres have melted. An eyewitness told the ECHO the air still smells very strongly of fuel following the blaze.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said the fire crews left the scene at 12.20pm. The scene was handed over to officers from Merseyside Police who remain on Dunnings Bridge Road.
