Major queues in Birkenhead Tunnel after 'incident'

Traffic is queuing back in the Birkenhead Tunnel following an 'incident'.

Traffic coming from Birkenhead and into Liverpool started queuing at around 3.45pm on Thursday, May 12, following reports of an 'incident'. An eyewitness told The ECHO they saw an ambulance moving through traffic in the tunnel with blue lights flashing.

The AA traffic map is showing very slow queues from the Liverpool entrance of the tunnel all the way back to the tolls in Birkenhead. The Merseytravel website is reporting traffic is taking around 16 minutes to pass through the tunnel.
