A major Nottingham-based food wholesaler has acquired one of its current competitors in a deal which managers say will allow it to form a 'leading position' in the sector. Hopwells, headquartered in Bilborough, is the UK's largest independent, family-owned frozen food wholesalers and it has six distribution centres across the country.
The company has announced that it has now acquired Windsor Foodservice, another family-run business based in Barnsley. Hopwells currently serves a range of chilled goods, including premium fresh meat and poultry.
The Windsor Foodservice, meanwhile, has become known for its artisan patisserie offering. Tristan Hopwell, the Managing Director of Hopwells, said: "Hopwells is an independent family business which prides itself on its traditional family values.
