Major Nato exercise with 10 allied nations begins in North Sea

A MAJOR Nato exercise to test new technologies and equipment launched in the North Sea on Monday.

The operation titled "Exercise Strike Warrior" will see more than 2000 servicemen take part in realistic military scenarios until Sunday, October 27.

Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the USA are all set to take part with 35 aircrafts being operated from RAF Lossiemouth.

Warships including destroyers, tankers and submarines will also be part of the operation with movement towards the Pentland Firth.

The UK-led exercise will also include a Joint Firing Activity at Cape Wrath Weapons Range, including Garvie Island.

Nato believes wargames in the North Sea allows nations to explore strategy and technique to better equip themselves against threats.
