Major incident declared as thousands of UK homes to be left without power for DAYS

A major incident has been declared as thousands of homes face days without power in freezing temperatures.

People living in the Shetland Islands in Scotland reported a blackout on Monday afternoon and power is expected to stay off until Thursday.

SSEN Distribution is working to restore supplies to about 2,800 homes, but warned full restoration is only likely by the end of the week.
