A serious accident has sparked the closure of a busy road near Glasgow.
Police and emergency services were alerted to the A725 Bellshill Bypass between the B7070 Bellshill Road and the M74 J5 ( Raith Interchange) just after 5pm this evening to reports of the crash, which is believed to have involved as many as five vehicles.
Traffic information site INRIX report that officers fully closed the road westbound on arrival.

The closure is causing congestion the the M8 at Bellshill Junction. Queues are also being reported through Bellshill as drivers attempt to avoid the road closure.
Drivers are being advised by Traffic Scotland to approach with caution and allow for longer than normal journey times.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 5pm on Tuesday, 26 July, police were called to a report of a road crash on the A725 near to Bellshill. Police and Ambulance are in attendance."
UPDATE: All lanes are now running following the earlier multi-vehicle collision.
