New plans have been submitted at a former Mansfield Wickes store. The building, which was used as a vaccination centre during the pandemic, is situated in Chesterfield Road South, just off the A6191.
Now, developers are hoping to change the use of the building from a retail store to a storage or distribution facility. Applicants have said the change of use at the store will help to reduce traffic in the area, as it will no longer be open to the public.
The former Wickes store became Nottinghamshire's first mass Covid vaccination centre in January 2021 to help with the biggest rollout in NHS history
In a design and access statement published on Mansfield District Council's planning website, a summary said the plans were in line with its local plan.
It read: "In summary, along with meeting the outline of the NPPF, and the requirements of Section 6 of the Mansfield District Local Plan 2013-2023 in bringing investment into the area and providing new employment by bringing an existing vacant industrial unit set within the heart of Mansfield back into use we believe this meets all National and Local planning requirements and we trust the Planning Authority will agree with this finding in supporting this Change of Use."
