The seven-day isolation period for positive Covid cases is to be reviewed and Dr Tony Holohan believes we have hit the peak of the current wave, the Irish Mirror understands.
The Cabinet sub-committee on health met on Thursday and the Chief Medical Officer updated Government Ministers that there is no change on the advice for mask-wearing.
The meeting was attended by the three Coalition leaders, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly, Ministers Paschal Donohoe and Michael McGrath.

A source said that the CMO said it appears we are now at the peak of the current Covid surge and admissions to hospital should begin to fall. The source also said the CMO indicated admissions to hospital because of Covid are “relatively low.”
The meeting also heard that NIAC is expected to come back next week or so on advice on a fourth Covid dose for vulnerable people. This would mostly be administered by GPs if decision made, the source said.
Ministers were also told the 700,000 people who had Omicron over Christmas are now due for a booster and they should get one. A decision was taken at the meeting that the seven day isolation period for positive cases will be reviewed.
